Greater Madison Area
The Madison Metropolitan Area has a total population of 255,000 – making Madison the second most populous city in Wisconsin. Madison is also the capital of the state of Wisconsin, the seat of Dane County, and is the home of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the third-largest public university in the United States. The flagship campus of UW–Madison is in Madison, but it is located in the suburbs of Madison. There are also three other major university campuses (University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, and UW–Oshkosh), plus several smaller campuses. Many of the city’s high schools are also ranked highly and it is a great place to raise a family!
